Telehealth Services from Coordinated Care Help to Keep Healthcare Accessible
During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Members can receive COVID-19 assessments and other care by video or phone for no additional cost.

April 6, 2020 (WASHINGTON) – In response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Coordinated Care is encouraging members to use its telehealth services for COVID-19-related and other, non-emergency medical issues. This is especially important for members who may be feeling sick, as they can consult with a doctor from their home. Telehealth services with a doctor in Coordinated Care’s network are available at no cost or cost sharing to most members.

While a doctor will not be able to make a COVID-19 diagnosis during a telehealth visit, they will be able to assess a member’s condition and make recommendations for recuperating at home or visiting a clinic or hospital. Additionally, members who are concerned about COVID-19 can also take a self-assessment before requesting an in-person visit to provide more immediate guidance on their health. The service can also be used to address a number of other health issues:

  • Colds, flu, and fevers
  • Rash and skin conditions
  • Sinuses or allergies
  • Respiratory infections
  • Behavioral health

“Coordinated Care’s telehealth services provide our members with 24-hour access to in-network healthcare providers,” said Dr. Mark Maddox, Chief Medical Officer, Coordinated Care. “This means our members can get medical advice, a prescription, and in some cases a diagnosis, by video or phone. We want to make sure all of our members are aware of this service so they can still have access to high-quality care while the threat of COVID-19 continues.”

In January 2020, Coordinated Care made its virtual health services standard as part of their Medicaid coverage. Coordinated Care offers localized telehealth services by contracting with providers who have a Washington state medical license. This helps ensure that members are connected with local doctors who understand their health and community, while still benefitting from the immediacy and convenience of telehealth services.
