TACOMA, Wash. (Mar. 7, 2024) – Coordinated Care, a managed care organization serving Washingtonians for the last twelve years and a wholly owned subsidiary of Centene Corporation (NYSE: CNC), announced today they invested another $1.8 million into communities across Washington in 2023 as part of their community giving work.
“We continue to deepen our partnerships across the state to support health equity with upstream solutions,” said Coordinated Care President and CEO Beth Johnson. “Our collaborative approach underscores the need to reinvest in local initiatives and partners that understand the unique needs in communities across Washington.”
Last year, Coordinated Care partnered with more than 90 organizations to deliver on their mission to transform the health of the community, one person at a time. Recognizing the impact of social drivers of health, Coordinated Care expanded its support beyond medical visits taking action to empower and uplift communities, ensuring a strong foundation for overall health and wellness. These investments address health and wellness challenges such as increasing access to healthy food, expanding access to necessary healthcare services in rural communities, and health equity initiatives.
These innovative projects include:
- Medically tailored meals, home delivery food programs, community cooking and nutrition classes and mobile markets.
- Career readiness and job training.
- Expanding behavioral health facilities and workforce
- Supporting tribal partners.
- Scholarships to first-generation and students of color pursuing healthcare careers
Coordinated Care’s community giving efforts focus on capacity-building, addressing healthcare inequities in underrepresented populations, and social drivers of health like food insecurity, transportation and housing.
